The Lady Dior Exhibition: A Vietnamese Imprint on the Iconic Designs of the French Fashion House.
More than just marking its inaugural showcase in Vietnam, the Lady Dior House exhibition – a tribute to the illustrious legacy of the Christian Dior fashion empire – captivates with the unique artistic creations of two contemporary Vietnamese artists.
Tia - Thủy Nguyễn's "Nang May" (Lady Cloud)
At the Lady Dior As Seen By exhibition, aficionados will encounter the iconic bag reimagined in a quartz version through the creative lens of Tia-Thủy Nguyễn. Explaining her choice of quartz as the primary material for this piece, the artist shares that, according to feng shui, quartz is a stone that balances energy, soothes the mind, crystallizes one’s thoughts, and erodes negative emotions.
From an aesthetic perspective, quartz bears a resemblance to clouds, allowing light to pass through and bend its path to reflect the surrounding environment. This contrast between the solidity of quartz and the ethereal nature of clouds challenges the viewer's imagination, inviting a contemplation that pushes the boundaries of personal interpretation. This interplay not only highlights the intricate beauty of Tia-Thủy Nguyễn’s work but also offers an open-ended invitation to explore the dynamic relationship between material and form, solid and void, inviting observers into a realm of limitless creativity and reflection.
Bùi Công Khánh and The Wandering Clouds
Bùi Công Khánh's Lady Dior design marvelously blends Vietnamese culture with contemporary fashion, using ceramic pieces inspired by Hội An temple mosaics. This fusion pays tribute to Vietnamese heritage, seamlessly merging it with the iconic elegance of Lady Dior, captivating fashion enthusiasts with a unique cultural dialogue.
An enchanting adventure enriched by the unique creations of Lady Dior As Seen By rekindles the fashion house's dialogue with promising talents and influential figures of the contemporary scene. Vietnamese artists Tia-Thủy Nguyễn and Bùi Công Khánh have also showcased two pieces in this collection.
This exclusive rendezvous celebrates diverse cultures and masterful craftsmanship, open from March 15 to April 14, 2024.
