About CÉNES
The CÉNES look
This is a tailoring brand first. Jackets, coats and skirts make up most of the collection, and nearly every piece has a partner cut from the same cloth. The Charlotte Collared Jacket and Charlotte Straight Skirt are the simplest version: a straight-silhouette jacket with a classic collar and regular sleeves over a straight skirt. The Penelope Mandarin Blazer and Penelope Boot-cut Pants give you a suit with a mandarin neckline instead of lapels. The Florence Button Jacket has an asymmetric neck and button detail, paired with the Florence Pencil Skirt.
Outerwear is where the painterly reference shows up as shape. The Genevieve Cocoon Coat rounds through the shoulder and body, the Valerie Asymmetric Neck Trench Coat sets a cut-away neckline on a straight trench, and the Thalior Collared Leather Jacket is the one hard-edged piece in the range. Dresses are quieter: the Helena Pleated Maxi Dress and the Lysandra Square Neck Maxi Dress are long and uncluttered, and the Vespera High Neck Button Mini Dress buttons to the throat. Newer separates such as the Nyx Straight Silk Skirt and the Calix Mandarin Cotton Jacket name their fabric in the title.
Separates and matching pairs
CÉNES is not split into named capsules at MEAN BLVD. Shop by pair instead: look for the shared first name on a jacket, skirt, top or pair of pants and you have a complete look. The Eleanor Cape Sleeve Blazer goes with the Eleanor Straight Skirt, the Elgin Draped Top with the Elgin Boot-cut Pants, and the Amara Cape Sleeve Top with the Amara Boot-cut Pants. When to wear CÉNES
The brand's own notes point to the office, business meetings and formal daytime events, and that is where most customers wear it. The same jacket and skirt pairs carry into anniversary and birthday dinners or a cocktail evening when worn with a draped top such as the Sylvia Draped Top. Coverage is a strength: long sleeves, high and mandarin necklines and knee-to-ankle hems are the norm, which makes the long-sleeved dresses and coats an easy choice for modest dressing. How does CÉNES fit?
The tailoring is structured and straight rather than stretchy. Jackets and coats are cut with regular sleeves and a clean shoulder, so order by your bust and shoulder measurements. Pencil skirts sit close through the hip; boot-cut pants are fitted through the thigh and open below the knee. Check the size chart on each product page, since dress and skirt lengths vary between styles.
Where else should I look?
If you want this kind of clean, long-line dressing in one piece, the dresses collection at MEAN BLVD gathers long-sleeved and square-neck styles from many of our labels.
